Hi Jenna, I know I answered your query on Facebook but for anyone else I suggested freezing the stewed apple separately (in ice cube trays and then transferring to a Tupperware etc) then either freezing the bread topping separately or making fresh on the day.

I am so pleased with this recipe but instead of making small ones ( I do not have any ramekin dishes, or similar) so I adapted and made a large one. Put half the apple you would use for a crumble, into the baking dish. Prepare two or three slices of bread…Cut in half and put butter, brown sugar and cinnamin on each one. Place on top of apple, not overlapping. Cut small bits to fill in gaps. Put dish on baking tray and any prepared slices over, place on baking tray. Cook as recipe but for 25 minutes instaed of 15. When done.. crispy’ the baked bread pieces are to die for while you are waiting for the dessert cool down! So easy, so quick, so scrummy. Thank you!
