I’ve never bought pickled beets but had some homemade pickled beets in a restaurant recently which were lush. The jarred stuff in the shops all seem to have added sweeteners so I probably need to make my own at some point but I’m also experimenting with adding vinegar to the water of this recipe at the moment.

Ooh lucky you Heidi, looked at the tiny bunches in Tesco tonight but didn’t want to spend £1.75 on organic beetroot so will wait until I find another bargain:-)

I’ve never eaten the vinegar version, grew up with the boiled greengrocer version so was not going to then go down the vinegar route!

Who knew the slow cooker could be so versatile?! Never used to like beetroot until a few years ago, now adore it with goat’s cheese or yogurt.

Ooh, never have it from a jar, just don’t want a mouth full of vinegar. I’ve never had a floor spillage and cooking it this way, didn’t even get stained hands when I peeled them, all quite painless:-)
