In reply to Kate W. Hi Kate, I'm sorry to hear that, the choux part of the recipe was from The Herald (which is no longer online) it worked for me but I'll put it on my list to make again at some point and see if it needs changing. Glad you enjoyed the recipe otherwise:-)

This choux recipe didn’t work for me. Very fatty and didn’t rise. I tried again with another recipe – 50g butter, 75g flour, 125ml water and 2 eggs. Baked at 180C fan for 25 minutes. Much better.
The strawberry cream filling is spot on though.

In reply to Rose. Oh gosh Rose I am so terribly sorry. I don't think just adding eggs would work as you'd need twice as much of everything to make it work. I would start again. I will go and correct the recipe now and also double check with my original notes. So sorry once again:-

Hi just trying these. Recipe says 570mls water or half a pint. I used 570 mls which I now discover is way more than half a pint and my flour butter mixture never formed a ball. Now wondering whether to abandon them completely or just add egs and see how they go?

Mmmm – yet another must-try recipe.

In reply to K Mayers. I've never tried other fruit, I suppose you could try raspberries but you might need to sweeten them as they can be a bit tart sometimes.

I love choux buns, always have. I’ve never tried strawberry ones though! The idea certainly appeals to me though they somehow look rather gooey lol, I’ll try them all the same though simply as I’ll never know otherwise will i?
Have you ever tried other fruits? I just wondered if any others were possible..

I’ve never made choux pastry it’s always seemed a bit scary for me! Maybe I’ll give it a go!
