Having only recently made my first smoothie I decided it was time to bite the bullet and make a smoothie bowl. So today I made this Tropical Smoothie Bowl which totally perplexed my hubby who asked what on earth it was (obviously doesn’t read food blogs which are awash with them)! With a mango as a starting point I had a little fridge raid, added a couple of kiwi fruits, juice of an orange, a banana and some coconut extract.
Oh my this was good. Now I know why smoothie bowls are so popular! My son refused to try my Tropical Smoothie Bowl but my daughter tucked in with relish and declared it “lovely” when she got back from school. Hubby also approved after his initial scepticism! I couldn’t see myself making this for breakfast (just not a morning person) but I think it would make a fabulous fat free dessert or just a great after school school snack.

I love the smoothie bowls and think its a great idea. I have been making my own for a while. Now I have cottoned on to flavoured Kefir and Banana and Oat drink from M&S, I use that as my base. I have been adding lychees which are really sweet and juicy and sprinkling with toasted nuts.
There is no limit to these.
Camilla
Great aren’t they, lychees sound like a great addition:-)

Great idea to make a tropical smoothie bowl. I prefer them for dessert to breakfast too, great to get that creaminess without any cream!
Camilla
Thanks Janice, yes and I’m just not a morning person so prefer them for pudding:-)

Ha-ha! So a Smoothie Bowl is a cold fruit soup! Gosh these crazes…. lol Still if it gets people eating more fruit, it can’t be a bad thing, can it?
This combination sounds really good!
Camilla
I’m always last on the craze bandwagon LOL;-)
