Ingredients

  • 500 g asparagus
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • freshly ground salt & pepper
  • 2 wooden skewers soaked in water

Instructions

  • Wash and trim the woody ends of the asparagus spears with a sharp knife.
  • Pour the olive oil into a small bowl and whisk together with the garlic and a generous grinding of salt and pepper.
  • Place the asparagus in a food bag, add the garlic oil and holding the bag shut with your hand give it a good shake.
  • Thread the asparagus near the base onto a wooden skewer and then repeat with another skewer near the top.
  • Place the asparagus on the BBQ to cook, turning once. Will take about 4 minutes per side on a high heat and up to 10 minutes a side on a low heat (which mine were cooked on).
  • Check if asparagus is cooked by inserting a skewer.
  • Serve hot or cold as a side dish.
