How to BBQ Asparagus
Asparagus coated in seasoned olive oil and garlic, barbecued on wooden skewers - just delicious!
- 500 g asparagus
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- freshly ground salt & pepper
- 2 wooden skewers soaked in water
Wash and trim off the woody ends of the asparagus
Pour the olive oil into a small bowl and whisk together with the garlic and a generous grinding of salt and pepper.
Place the asparagus in a food bag, add the garlic oil and holding the bag shut with your hand give it a good shake.
Thread the asparagus near the base onto a wooden skewer and then repeat with another skewer near the top.
Place the asparagus on the BBQ to cook, turning once. Will take about 4 minutes per side on a high heat and up to 10 minutes a side on a low heat (which mine were cooked on).
Check if asparagus is cooked by inserting a skewer.
Serve hot or cold as a side dish.
