Minced Beef and Onions

Minced Beef and Onions is traditional British comfort food, simple and delicious!

Equipment

  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring jug
  • Non-stick frying pan
  • Wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 500 g Minced Beef/Steak
  • 1 Large onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp Plain flour
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 300 ml / ½ pt Beef stock
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan over a medium heat.
  • Once hot, sweat the onions over low to medium heat for 10 minutes under a lid, stirring occasionally until softened (not browned).
  • Next add the minced beef and fry until browned.
  • Sprinkle on the flour and cook for a minute stirring continuously.
  • Add the stock, Worcestershire Sauce and seasoning and bring to the boil stirring until thickened.
  • Simmer for ten minutes on a low heat.
  • Serve with jacket potatoes or mash and vegetables.

Notes

Add more stock if the mixture becomes too thick.
