No Bake Cookies

JUMP TO RECIPE

No Bake Cookies

I have never baked or cooked with peanut butter as I was quite late in my liking of the substance. So perusing the internet I noticed that there were a lot of peanut butter cookies out there and decided that the Zero Baking Required challenge being hosted by Sarah Trivuncic at Maison Cupcake was a good excuse to try out one of these recipes. With my daughter’s help I adapted a recipe for Famous No-Bake Cookies from Diana’s Desserts with a recipe submitted by Ashlee. I think these cookies would be ideal for a picnic or kids party (check for allergies first) as they are like little miniature chocolate flapjacks!

First you add sugar, cocoa, butter and milk to a pan.

Melt the ingredients and then boil for 3 minutes.

Add the peanut butter, oats and vanilla extract.

Put spoonfuls of mixture onto grease proof paper and allow to cool and harden.

Enjoy!

I love peanut butter yet i’m not a fan of reeces peanut butter cups, i think you can have too much of a good thing. I like the idea of the oats with this though.

I detest those Reese things, I was a late comer to peanut butter as I grew up with Sunpat and found that revolting. I like the more natural peanut butters around these day that don’t look golden yellow LOL.

What a lovely sounding, simple recipe!
I will try making these instead of going to the cupboard for a spoonful (or three) of peanut butter next time I get a sweet craving when the biscuit tin is empty.

These look remarkably easy and quick to knock up! The times I’ve fancied a home made cookie 20 minutes or so before a film starts and of course not had time to bake any. Bookmarked and going to try tomorrow! Thanks for the recipe.

Would love to make these with the kids this half-term. I might make them with both Nutella and peanut butter.

Great minds do think alike 🙂 I was late to the peanut butter party too but absolutely love it now. Never did as a child though. These look great and are definitely perfect for a picnic or party.

Hi Jacs, unless you’re having a tea party, do halve the quantity as I think American portion sizes are more generous! Thanks for stopping by:-D

Hi Camilla – I left a comment a couple of days ago – but it looks like it has fallen into the abyss so I’ll try again 🙂
All the contents of a Snickers bar and no baking = a winner. I don’t think I would be disciplined enough to stop at 1.

Hi Jacqueline – don’t know what happened there then, the wonders of technology! You can make yourself quite sick after the 3rd one, so have to ration myself to 1 a day!

Yes they are childs play to make and when you’re bored of peanut butter you can make them with Nutella instead.
