Homedics Shiatsu Max 2.0 Back & Shoulder Massager with Heat
Do not adjust your set, yes I know this isn’t food related but I just had to share this review of the HoMedics Shiatsu Max 2.0 Back & Shoulder Massager with Heat with you! For many years, well ever since I started working in an office in my twenties I have suffered with problems like neck stiffness and a bad back (throw in a couple of crashes on the dodgems and carrying babies in car seats etc years later). In the last few years I have added sciatica to the list which now comes and goes. So over the years I have progressed from a hand held massager for neck and shoulder tension, a small portable shiatsu massager and then eventually bought a HoMedics Shiatsu Back & Shoulder Massager. My model is so old and basic (no heat) it’s not even made any more and must be at least 8 years old.

The heat function will really come into its own when the weather gets colder!
So step up the HoMedics Shiatsu Max 2.0 Back & Shoulder Massager with Heat, oh my, the difference was amazing! I have been recommending my old HoMedics massager to friends for years but had no idea the technology had moved on so much! My old massager was like having a gentle massage from a lady whereas with the new version it’s like having a powerful massage from man with bigger hands. You also have the option to have a heated massage which isn’t necessary on a hot summer’s day but when the weather gets colder this will be totally invaluable. There’s nothing worse than muscle tension and feeling cold at the same time so the heat is a brilliant idea and features on all of the seat style shiatsu massagers in the HoMedics range.

You can flit between functions to your heart’s content!
The HoMedics Shiatsu Max 2.0 is very easy to operate from a remote control so you can focus on the areas you want to work on (upper, middle or lower back). A demo button takes you through all the features to enable you to get to know the massager. There are 2 types of massage available (provided by the 2 x 2 massage nodes), the shiatsu massage (a deep kneading circular massage) and a rolling massage (like 2 hands or thumbs working up your back). You can adjust the height of the massage with the click of a button and you can also adjust the width of the rolling massage. For safety there is a timer which ends the massage after 15 minutes.
So is that it, I hear you ask? No, there’s one more feature which I didn’t have on my old model, a vibration massage button which gives an invigorating vibration massage to upper legs and thighs. This can be utilised at the same time as having your back massaged!

This model even has a head rest plus deluxe washable back cover for variable intensity and easy maintenance.
My whole family have enjoyed testing out this new massager (suitable for children from age 8 upwards) which we keep strapped to an older maternity rocking chair. My hubby would have liked a preset feature, like a longer version of the demo feature or perhaps a way of setting up a series of sequences and it remembering. My son being quite skinny found it dug in slightly but the rest of us didn’t have this problem. I just love the HoMedics Shatsu Max 2.0 and know that it’s going to help keep my muscles relaxed even better now. Sitting a computer for long periods is no good for any of us and so I think this is the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.
RRP £299.99
NB: Please seek advice from your doctor if you have any medical issues, a pace maker or are pregnant before using this machine. I received the HoMedics Shiatsu Max 2.0 for review purposes, was not paid and all opinions are my own.
Kavey
Me too on the bad back front and my best solution, when I can afford, is to get a really good deep tissue massage every few weeks. Expensive though and this looks very fairly priced.
Camilla
I was going to come and wave you over to read this as I think this would be perfect for you Kavey.
Jacqueline Meldrum
It looks fabulous I bet I’d fall asleep sitting on that, with a smile.
Camilla
It is very relaxing Jacs:-)
Becca @ Amuse Your Bouche
Oh I would LOVE one of these! A massage is one of my favourite things in the world and I love the idea of being able to have a heated massage too.
Camilla
Put it on your Christmas list Becca, I think you’d love it, great for bloggers after a hard day!
Savi
Man this looks amazing – definitely need it as I spend most of the day poring over my computer screen
Camilla
I think every home would benefit from one!
Angela from Daysinbed
ooh this looks good and would be helpful for my back pain. I’m a fan of homedics and this is something I’ve love to try out. Angela from Daysinbed
Camilla
I’m sure it would be great for you Angela:-)

Back pain is just the worst ๐ I’ve had upper back pain for 3 years and I’ve tried so many things with no luck! I actually bought one of these homedics chairs for my husband when we first started dating but never tried it myself because I had no back issues at the time. I haven’t seen it in a while so I’m assuming he no longer has it ๐ Might be worth trying one again. Completely forgot about these chairs. Thanks for the reminder!
Camilla
I would seriously recommend this to you Nadia, for years I have been recommending my old model to people and this model is so much more powerful and with the heat a complete game changer.
Jo of Jo's Kitchen
This sounds great. My hubby uses a basic version without heat and loves it!
Camilla
My neighbour just popped round and had a go with it and now wants one for her hubby who has a bad back, such a game changer this newer model:-)
Jemma @ Celery and Cupcakes
They used to see these chairs where I used to work when I was at uni. I remember them being really amazing and I could sit on it for hours if I had been allowed.
Camilla
They are great Jemma but 15 mins is the maximum time allowed:-)
Sally - My Custard Pie
I was always sceptical about these chairs but as I suffer from the achiest shoulders known to man and you have recommended so highly, I am adding to my Christmas wishlist pronto.
Camilla
I used to see a physio years about a T4 problem that he diagnosed and was just below my shoulder. He showed me a pumelling action that would help but family soon tired of helping so hence I bought the shiatsu massager as it was the next best thing to having a personal masseuse in the house! Really hope it helps you Sally, I’m pretty sure it will!
Sarah, Things Sarah Loves
This sounds amazing! I spend so many hours sitting as my desk in front of my computer and I worry about the effect it’s going to have on me as I get older. This sounds perfect!
Camilla
Yes we really are our own worst enemies when it comes to back health so this massager is great for relaxing tense muscles!
charlotte evans
My Dad actually has one of these for our office chair and it’s bliss for those long days huddled over a computer screen! I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in my back pain too, great review ๐ xx
Camilla
Thanks Charlotte, glad it helps your back too!
