As eagle eyed viewers of my blog will have noticed, I am a big fan of my Oxo Good Grips Garlic Press. Hence when I discovered Oxo were on Twitter I was only too keen to let them know and offered to review any of their products. I was kindly sent the Oxo Good Grips Salad Spinner and Salad Dressing Shaker. If you have never owned a salad spinner before then you don’t know what you’ve been missing. My husband bought me one when we got married and was not impressed when excitedly he told me he had a surprise gift for me! My initial reluctance to accept such a mundane gift was later replaced by a “how did I ever function without one of these” attitude.
After 16 years of solid service my spinner was beginning to show signs of wear and tear and I was thinking of replacing it. I hadn’t realised what a jalopy it had been until the Oxo Good Grips one arrived. Gone are the days of holding the lid down with my thumb to stop it flying off, as are the feelings of having done a gym workout just to get my lettuce dry. The Oxo one is a one touch wonder (well a few plunges) and even has a brake, plus for ease of storage the plunger can be retracted with a sliding lock. This truly is the Rolls Royce of salad spinners! So next I tried out the Oxo Good Grips Salad Dressing Shaker. Up until now I’d made and stored dressing in a plastic lidded beaker (very 70’s). Well I have now come out of the dark ages and could not be more pleased with my new Shaker. It is stylish, practical and pours beautifully. When your salad dressing splits into oil and vinegar layers you just shake and don’t need to worry that the lid might come flying off! If you’d like to win these great gadgets go to the end of this post for your chance to win them.
So armed with my new salad making gadgets I set about recreating a Raspberry Vinaigrette which I’d had a few years ago and loved. It had been a one off seasonal offering from a supermarket and I’m pleased to say that I think I nailed it! I paired my dressing off with an organic bag of baby leaves with rocket. The peppery flavour of rocket went really well with the tang of the raspberries and now that summer is finally here it’s the perfect way to use up any excess berries!
So you start by washing and spinning your salad leaves dry.
Put all the ingredients in a mini blender and whizz for a minute.
Now decant and serve with your favourite salad – Rocket goes very well.

The gadgets sound like ‘must-haves’ – I have been on the receiving end of a lid flying off whilst shaking stuff – not a pretty sight and takes forever to get rid of the oil stains.
Never had a Salad Spinner – have resorted to shaking each leaf to rid of excess water. (I know – life’s too short to waft a lettuce leaf)
Camilla
Yep, life’s hard enough so lets rid ourselves of oil stains and wet leaves at least!

That is so clever, perfect for adding a little something special to the humble salad!
Would really love this!

I like the posh salad spinner. Oxo is a very reliable brand and I like the fact it’s non slip too! Great post.
Camilla
You’re right, I don’t think Oxo make anything that slips!
