The MAD Blog Awards 2015 and my shock at being a finalist!

MADS-FINALIST-BADGE.fw_

Last week I was just going about my business when I discovered on Facebook that I was one of six finalists in the MAD Blog Awards in the Best Food Blog category (MAD stands for mums and dads but funnily enough in Danish it means food)! My first comment on the thread was “shut the front door” a phrase I’ve never used before but think I must have picked up from one of those classy reality TV programmes I watch! To say I was shocked was an understatement as I hadn’t asked to be nominated nor put the badge about the awards on my blog. I have always thought that every time one of you comments or tells me about your success using one of my recipes that that is my reward. I just love doing what I do and this really is the best job in the world. What started out as a hobby and obsession has lead me to where I am today, a cookery writer which is what I always wanted to be! There’s nothing I love more than being challenged to come up with recipes using ingredients I might have otherwise have overlooked. One such ingredient was mutton and here I put it to good use in this delicious Mutton Kofta Curry with Chickpeas (commissioned by Local Food Britain).

Mutton Kofta Curry with Chickpeas, Indian, lamb, spicy, easy,

I also really enjoyed creating this recipe for SPAM – Chill SPAM & Eggs which has now become a family favourite!

Chilli Spam & Eggs - Fab Food 4 All, camping, quick, easy, chickpeas

I have a personal obsession with jam as many of you know (two 1st prizes so far) but I enjoy turning my hand to new foods and techniques and am on a constant quest to learn. So I’ll stop rambling now and I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you who nominated me for this award – to say I was moved is an understatement! Having one’s hard work recognised is just reward in itself!

If you’d like to vote in this MAD Blog Awards 2015 then you need to head over to here (Voting MADs) and do check out the other finalists who are all fab too! You have until 26th June to vote and the winners will be announced in London on 18th September.

PS: If you are thinking of voting for me then do think about the trees! A lot of trees would have to be cut down for all the tissues I would be in need of if I won – don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Sharing is caring!
