Win £200 worth of Pyrex in time for Fathers Day – Closed

With Father’s Day coming up on 16 June, how would you like to make your dad (or your children make their dad) a meal fit for a king? Well, that’s just what you’ll be able to do if you win £200 worth of Pyrex of your choice.

Not only do they make all the glassware we know and love but they also do cast iron casseroles, bakeware in metal and silicone, pyroflam, beautiful ceramics plus frying pans and saucepans. I’m very excited about the products I chose which you can see below.

I love the idea of being able to cook something and then storing any leftovers in the same dish by just popping on a lid which is where the Cook and Store range comes in handy.

I also made a beeline for the Kitchen Lab Measuring Beakers and the Measure and Shake Mixer as precision measuring is a must in the kitchen! I’m also looking forward to using my new frying pans as they come with easy pour lips which will be useful for sauce making.

The pyroflam casserole will be a first for me and I love the fact that you can put it on both the hob and in the oven.

Did you know that products from this range are made out of vitroceramic which was originally developed in partnership with the American space agency to be used as elements on the outside of space shuttles!

Various Pyrex items

So whether it be rain or shine, barbecue or casserole Pyrex has got it covered. I’m going to come up with a dish using my Pyrex nearer the time but in the meantime why don’t you enter my competition by using the Rafflecopter below? Just tell me in the comment box what your dad’s favourite dish is, it could be sweet or savoury! I know my dad loves Apple Pie!

The father of my children loves nothing more than his bbqued vegetables (potatoes, sweet potatoes, beetroot, courgettes, aubergines, carrots, onions, mushrooms) with a large salad, good bread and a good German beer. Strange man. Very health conscious and looks it too.

My dad’s favourite dish was always bread and butter pudding. It was a bit of a giggle though that he only ever had it 4 times.. My mum made him it once and he liked it, but she didn’t so she never made it again. So having 3 daughters, when they did cookery at school it was always a dish they had to do. So therefore he got to have it 3 more times, myself being the last person to cook it for him….. How i wish i could make him another 🙁

Braising steak, always done in a pyrex dish with the lid on and cooked on a low heat for hours. Juices made into a gravy and steak melts in your mouth. Served with mash and garden peas. I remember Dad making this, and only this, when I was a child, when Mum was in hospital. Sadly he passed away when I was 13 but braising steak reminds me of Dad.

My Dad used to be quite a fussy eater. He wouldn’t have gravy, or anything spicy or anything ‘foreign’ such as pasta or pizza.
Sadly for me, Dad now has dementia and is now in a residential home but one odd side effect is that he’s forgotten that he doesn’t like certain foods and now he will eat anything!
His favourite food now is whatever he had to eat for his last meal because that’s all he can remember.
But I remember that he used to love old fashioned cooking such as rice pudding and egg custard so when I have a chance to cook for him those are the type of foods I make. Plus I bake cakes to take in for him and the other residents and staff at the home and these are always very welcome!

My Dad isn’t fussy with food, but he has always been obsessed with dairy milk chocolate. I get him a large bar of it every birthday, father’s day and Christmas. He is known for having a ‘chocolate stash’ in his car and bedroom. Annoyingly, he is one of the slimmest people I know!

Served with Garlic Bread on the side.

My Dad has become a Jamie Oliver guru in the last 6 years since we lost my Mum because she warned him that he wasn’t just to live on fried eggs and apple crumble, which was all he cooked before that! He is now such an amazing cook & has been on umpteen cookery courses so invites for tea are much sought after!

Sadly I lost my Dad a few years ago, but one of my favourite and most vivid memories of him was spending Saturday night’s making pizzas together ready for my Mum getting home from work. We’d buy bases and then build them up from there, mostly using the ‘one for the pizza, one for me’ rule with the various toppings. We were always full before the pizzas were served!

My dad isn’t around any more, but his favourite meal of all was a simple plate of toasted Lancashire cheese. He had his own special metal plate for it, and he would slice the cheese very thinly onto the plate then grill it until it was brown and bubbling. He would sit and eat it, along with a slice of bread, smiling happily and saying “A meal fit for a king!”
