Win an Orla Kiely designed Brabantia Retro Bin worth £132, UK and Ireland, competition, giveaway

I don’t know about you but I’m passionate about design and function so when the 2 come together in one product I’m a very happy person. Irish designer and ‘Queen of prints’ Orla Kiely has teamed up with premier kitchen and homeware brand Brabantia and her world famous stem design now adorns their iconic Retro Bin. The sprig and leaf motif is available in cream on charcoal with an orange lid, and charcoal on cream with a yellow lid. The Charcoal Linear and Cream Linear Stem designs are available in 12, 20 and 30 litres.. You open the lid with a light pedal tap and it closes smoothly and silently, so no banging and clattering and as you don’t need your hands to open it it’s also very hygienic! On top of that the Brabantia Retro Bins come with a 10-year guarantee.

This is the bin I have – totally loving it! (Pic courtesy of Brabantia)

I have been getting to know the 30-litre Retro Bin (with yellow lid) for the past few weeks and it has not only brightened up my kitchen but it has saved me an awful lot of time. I used to make numerous trips to the garage with my empty plastic bottles and cardboard where I had a bag and now I have a cool stylish bin in the kitchen with ample capacity so I do not have to make as many trips to the outdoor bin either. Of course, you can use your bin for any kind of refuse you like and Brabantia makes bin liners to fit all their bins.

The Brabantia Retro Bin retails at 12 Litre – £95, 20 Litre – £122, and 30 Litre – £132 and Brabantia are kindly offering you the chance to win one of these bins.

I LOVE this design and the colours! I would love to have the 30 liter bin in either colour – they are both wonderful…perhaps the charcoal with orange lid is a bit more practical, so yes, would go for that colour.

I prefer the orange colour than the yellow but it would definately ideally be the 30 litre for us- with ‘nomal’ cheap ugly bins (as we have always had) it is absolutely paramount that they are small enough to be hidden away inside a kitchen cupboard and still be useable.

But this bin of beauty, if I ever get my hands on one, will not be hidden away but will stand proudly in the middle of my kitchen maling everything (and everyone) else look decidedly dreary. The bigger the better! 🙂

The 30L would be good as the designated recycle bin, as most of the rubbish here goes in the recycle bag and there’s lots of it! However, we do need a new bin for “other” rubbish (i.e. food waste and non-recyclable) and a smaller one (12L?) would be better so it can be emptied more regularly. Hard to decide which one…!

Also, if that doesn’t persuade you my boyfriend is 6ft 7 inches so he consumes A LOT of food to fuel his long, lanky legs so please help me put this bin to good use!

The 12 litre one. I have a Brabantia pedal bin (30l) and it served me well for over a decade. However my children have left home now and I want (and need only) a smaller model. Since the old one is still fine, albeit a bit worn and the pedal system is a bit dodgy, I need a justified excuse to get a new one. An Orla Kiely one would be that excuse. And the fact that I have now a tiny kitchen.

I would love the 30 litre for my daughter who has just moved house. I have had 2 Brabantia bins (one for recycling and one for general rubbish) for years and they are excellent. I have had to claim a new lid for one of them under guarantee because my lot never empty the recycling and slam the lid down but other than that the bins are as good as new. I’d never buy anything else.

I’d like a medium size bin, I have 2 bins in my kitchen, one for recycling, and the other for rubbish, the rubbish one needs to fit snug near the fridge as my kitchen is tiny and this size looks perfect. Would also balance artistically with my orla handtowel near the sink.

In the spot I have for my bin the 20 litre size would be perfect and the black would fit in with my colour scheme perfectly.

I’d like the 30L bin as I’d use it for my recycling (that bin is too pretty to put old scuzzy rubbish in!). Since the recycling tends to be bulkier, and is only collected every other week, the larger bin would save me trips to the wheelie bin like I do now!
