Here is a round-up of products which I have been trying out recently.
Abra-ca-Debora Diddy Pancakes
Are delicious little puffs of pancake which you can heat up and eat in so many ways. If there are any Scandinavians reading this, they are just like freshly made miniature æbleskiver. We enjoyed them warm with some fresh strawberries and sugar but they’re also delicious with syrup, lemon juice, ice cream and are great to have in the fridge as a stand by dessert.
We all loved these Diddy Pancakes so I can thoroughly recommend them!
Abra-ca-Debora Diddy Pancakes are initially being launched in 20 Waitrose stores and can be found in the chiller, priced at £1.49
Merrydown Cider
I was recently sent some Vintage Dry and Medium Cider from Merrydown which was a real trip down memory lane for me. As a student it was the first drink I ever had and it’s the only alcohol I really like (well apart from Champagne). Both variants were delicious and fruity. The bottles seems to have shrunk from my memory of them, in my day I’m sure they were in 1 ltr bottles but maybe that’s a good thing! Merrydown have come up with a lovely selection of downloadable recipes in a Summer Celebration recipe booklet but to be honest the cider tasted so good my husband and I just drank it. On their website they suggest using their cider in place of wine in recipes which is something I will do in future as I do get annoyed when I see recipes using wine which I can’t drink and it’s also quite expensive (but I know I’m in a minority here)!.
Merrydown Cider avaliable widely and retails for about £3.
Fudge Kitchen Deliciously Different Drinking Fudge
We were very much looking forward to receiving our sample of Deliciously Different Drinking Fudge from Fudge Kitchen and it didn’t disappoint. I immediately loved the box with the 6 smart pouches inside. It was similar to drinking chocolate only with the addition of the sweet taste of fudge and comes in 6 different flavours. Inside each papersleeve is a little plastic pouch which reminded me of a packet mix of crème caramel so not a powder as I was expecting. The instruction tell you to heat up you milk in the microwave but I prefer to heat my milk on the hob and as there were 3 of us drinking , it made far more sense. My daughter had the Mocha Choca Madness flavour even though she’s never drunk coffee before and really enjoyed it. I had the Moreish Mint and my husband had the Classic Chocolate which again we both enjoyed. The other flavours are Gorgeous Ginger, Tangy Orange and Dreamy Coconut.
Personally I would just opt for Classic Chocolate given the choice and I believe the single flavour boxes will be available soon. This isn’t the kind of drinking chocolate you would drink regularly but it makes a lovely treat and would make a perfect gift (and Fathers Day is just around the corner)!
For stockists or to buy on-line please check out Fudge Kitchen rrp £8 for a box of 6 sachets.
Hope you have enjoyed my latest finds!
NB: I received the samples but no payment, all opinions are my own.

Merrydown Cider here in Brazil costs more than $ 50 dolars – But worth paying dearly for this drink. Either way it is very good!
Personally I prefer the Dry Cider. I learned that there is Merrydown and Black too, but have not tasted yet.
Thanks for sharing with us!

Normally I’m a bit indifferent about products on roundups as I’ve seen them before or they are expensive, but all of these look like things that I would buy. The mini pancakes would be lovely with a bunch of friends and a film or outdoors in the evening over some drinks (maybe the cider…).Also, I LOVE hot chocolate in any form. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Aah, thanks Gill, I don’t expect to get comments on a food review so I appreciate you taking the time to leave one. I am quite picky about what I review so it’s nice to get feedback:-)

The drinking fudge looks absolutely delicious! As you say, it would make a great gift pack…if i could keep my greedy little mitts off it 🙂 Normal drinking chocolate usually isn’t sweet enough, but it looks like Fudge Kitchen have solved that problem!
