Creamy Italian Salad Dressing – great with Pizza!

JUMP TO RECIPE

In association with Papa John’s
Creamy Italian Salad Dressing - great with pizza!

Creamy Italian Salad Dressing

My hubby loves Creamy Italian Salad Dressing and many years ago developed this recipe which I’d forgotten all about until the other day. It wasn’t quite right though as translating it to measured spoons (which I use for all my recipes) wasn’t the same as grabbing a spoon from the cutlery drawer. So with a little tweaking and also substituting a little water for some of the vinegar (to take away some of the sharpness) I think we’ve come up with a winner of a salad dressing which goes really well with pizza!

Creamy Italian Salad Dressing - great with pizza!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of trying out the new lighter option pizza from Papa John’s which includes cheese with a 1/3 less fat – great for those of us who enjoy the odd takeaway pizza but who don’t want a heavy going meal. We chose the Premium Hawaiian with fresh pineapple and pulled ham hock (which is cooked for over 7 hours to make it really tender). My son said the pizza tasted like it had been home made with quality ingredients, hubby said similar and my daughter said it was “banging” – no-one spotted the fact that the cheese was lower fat! I really enjoyed the pizza too and it was good to know that it was slightly more virtuous than a standard one!

Papa John's

We had an XXL Papa John’s pizza which gave us all three very generous slices so perfect for a family of 4 with teenage kids. If you’d like the lighter cheese option on you next order then just go to the “Customise” button under your chosen pizza and click on the “Switch to lower fat cheese” option.

So I hope you try out my Creamy Italian Salad Dressing on your salad the next time you have a pizza as
it’s always important to remember your 5-a-day (I may be looking at the men here)! I swear my hubby would never eat salad unless I pushed it under his nose at the dinner table but if there’s a yummy dressing like this I must say he doesn’t need much persuading. I always make my own salad dressings – they’re so much better than the bottled ones. Nice way to add veg to a pizza dinner too! (Hawaiian pizzas are one of my favorites).

wow that pizza feeds a lot. It was a great idea of Papa Johns to develop a lower fat pizza, especially with the lower fat cheese. Like you we always have a bunch of salad when having a bought pizza, and I love my homemade ranch dressing, but your one sounds a great drizzler too. 🙂
