Easy Cheesy Jalapeno Soda Bread takes just a few minutes to prepare from pantry ingredients! Great with soup or cold food, you’ll make this again and again it’s so good!
It’s autumn which means it’s very much soup weather and every soup deserves a good helping of crusty bread.
My Easy Cheesy Jalapeno Soda Bread takes just minutes to prepare and is the perfect soup accompaniment or is great as part of a cold table.
If you’ve never made soda bread the only thing you need to be aware of is to get the dough into the oven as quickly as possible as the gases start being released from the raising agents as soon as you add the liquid (in this case beer).
Cheddar and chillies are such great bed fellows so this Easy Cheesy Jalapeno Soda Bread didn’t last long and was devoured at one sitting. So the next time you run out of bread I recommend you make soda bread as it’ll be ready before you could pop out to the shops to buy some!

Sadly this didn’t turn out for me. I was wanting to branch out from my typical white bread and found this recipe. I prepped it according to the recipe but for whatever reason it stayed raw even though the crust was decent. It didn’t rise at all either, not sure what happened.
Camilla
Hi Chris, maybe you overworked the dough, it literally comes together in seconds or maybe your oven is the issue? My slow cooker died on me recently and I had a crust on outside and raw dough in the middle of my sourdough.
Dan
Looks awesome!
Do you use fresh Jalapenos or do you think I could use pickled jalapenos from a jar?
Camilla
Hi Dan, sorry the recipe should have stated “pickled”, I’ve now amended:-)
Jane Smith
Is the 190 in a fan or conventional oven?
Camilla
Hi Jane, all my recipes use conventional oven temperatures.

Such an unusual soda bread with cheese, jalapenos and beer too! Bet it’s nice dipped into a soup – like a bean soup.
