This month it is my turn to host Credit Crunch Munch which is a joint challenge being run myself and the lovely Helen at Fuss Free Flavours.
As usual you have free reign over what types of dishes you would like to submit but I noticed last month that there was not a single pudding or dessert entered so I would be very happy to see some of these this month! I also have a husband who every night says “what’s for pudding” so this is purely a selfish request! With this in mind, I have organised a prize for one lucky entrant, which is a Pudding Sleeve from the lovely people at Mermaid!
We want to know how you enjoy great food, but still spend less or save some money. Think about…
- Dishes using cheaper ingredients – cheap cuts of meat or vegetarian
- Meals using leftovers
- Meals using up the ends of packets
- Substitutions of cheaper ingredients
- Packed lunches
- Meals that use less energy to cook
- Pressure cooking
- Slow cooking
- Faster cooking – less oven time for example
- Batch cooking for the freezer
- Sustainable foods
- Food you have grown yourself
- Meals from reduced food in the supermarket
Credit Crunch Munch To take part, simply blog about any money saving idea that is food related, I am especially keen to see puddings and desserts this month. There are a few rules:
But feel free to:
Tell me about your money saving ideas on the linky below! I am also making this a blog hop, so feel free to grab the code and add to your post too. Let’s spread the money saving meme! We’ll be looking for guest hosts later in the year, so please mail Helen if you are interested. helen at fussfreeflavours dot com |
Have fun and I really look forward to seeing all your canny entries:-)
Camilla x
PS: The prize can only be sent out to UK or Irish entrants. The winner will be picked at random by allocating a number in order of entry.

Have just submitted my quesadillas – not a pudding i’m afraid but very cheap and cheerful ๐ You could actually put chocolate spread and chopped bananas in to make it a pudding… but maybe that’s a new blog post!

Ah . . . just realised you would have preferred puddings. And I have a savoury dish. Ooops! (With a bit of imagination, think of it as a pasta pudding!)
Camilla
Pudding were just a suggestion so don’t fret:-)

Hi Camilla, thanks for hosting, looks like it will be another popular round. My recipe can be batch cooked and uses seasonal (cheaper) veg. Ren x

Thank you Ren, I can’t wait!

I have a feeling I don’t know what pudding is….. (not British here and none of my puddings need a sleeve, just a bowl)… so I submitted something else. ๐
Camilla
Pudding just means the same as dessert or can be a steamed pudding and the sleeve is a new invention for making a specific suet based Roly Poly Steamed Pudding or Spotted Dick:-) Any money saving dish can be entered into Credit Crunch Munch so if you have a dessert do feel free to enter that too!

Lovely – looking forward to lots of thrift, pudding or not!

Challenge accepted! I suppose I could have added my apple crumble but I didn’t think of it at the time. The Tea Time Treats challenge for Feb is puddings (I think, better double check) so you might end up with a few suggestions to keep the hubby happy.
