Having only recently made my first smoothie I decided it was time to bite the bullet and make a smoothie bowl. So today I made this Tropical Smoothie Bowl which totally perplexed my hubby who asked what on earth it was (obviously doesn’t read food blogs which are awash with them)! With a mango as a starting point I had a little fridge raid, added a couple of kiwi fruits, juice of an orange, a banana and some coconut extract.
Oh my this was good. Now I know why smoothie bowls are so popular! My son refused to try my Tropical Smoothie Bowl but my daughter tucked in with relish and declared it “lovely” when she got back from school. Hubby also approved after his initial scepticism! I couldn’t see myself making this for breakfast (just not a morning person) but I think it would make a fabulous fat free dessert or just a great after school school snack.

I’ve never heard of coconut extract – a new one on me. Admission time. I’ve make smoothies regularly but have never made a smoothie bowl. You’ve inspired me to try one.
Camilla
You learn something all the time:-) Glad to have inspired you Sally and also glad I’m not the only newbie to Smoothie Bowls:-)
Beth @ Twinderelmo
These look breathtaking however I massively dislike kiwi – boo!

I’ve never had a smoothie bowl, looks a lot more appetising than just drinking one x
Camilla
Well glad to have spread the news about them in that case:-)

I love a smoothie bowl! We eat a lot of fruit salad, and when I first got my braces I used to throw it in the blender and drink it like soup, which my OH and daughter thought was hilarious. Apparently I was ahead of the trend!!
Camilla
Fabulous Helen, I’m always way behind with trends:-)

The only reason I prefer eating my smoothies out a bowl (rather than drinking them) is because I find it so much more satisfying! I think it tricks my brain into thinking I’m eating something whereas drinking it through a straw just doesn’t cut it for me! Also, it gives you a chance to add so many more lovely toppings! Love the tropical theme of this smoothie 🙂
Camilla
Thanks:-) You’re right Nadia, there’s a lot more scope for a bowl but I suppose if you’re in a hurry a smoothie in a glass is quicker:-)

Ok, I am with your Hubby as I have not seen these before *hangs head in shame* but I agree that this looks like a great dessert or even an after school snack for the Little Bs! They would love this.
Camilla
LOL no need to hang you head in shame, now you know it’s a thing I hope you go and experiment like I did;-)
