Cheat’s Fat Free French Onion Soup is made in a fraction of the time a real French Onion Soup would take to make. But you don’t need to tell anyone, do you?
It’s October so we’re well into Autumn and heading on our way to Halloween.
I do love this time of year, the rustle of leaves, the golden colours, pumpkins, it’s all so warming.
Yesterday I made this Cheat’s Fat Free French Onion Soup which only uses 3 ingredients!
I had no intention of posting this and can’t actually take credit for it as it was my hubby’s idea!
It tasted so good I took a couple of snaps for Instagram but then thought if we enjoyed it then I’m sure you would and it’s so ridiculously easy too.
I’d bought a tub of reduced red onions for 1p so needing to use them up and wanting something warming for lunch this soup came about.
No fuss, barely any mess as I used our soup maker and so tasty from just some red onions and 2 different types of stock.
We’ll be having this again as my son who is a huge fan of French Onion Soup also loved it when he tried it later!

Diana
wow a bag of red onions for 1p that’s amazing!! And I love this recipe so easy and sounds delicious! I’m thinking maybe adding croutons and cheese on top would be nice too?
Camilla
Yes that would be nice if you want to get away from the fat free vibe;-) Mmm imagining melted cheese on those croutons now…
Roz
my favourite soup of all time! will try this version, sounds so great and simple!
Camilla
Thanks Roz. Funnily enough I’ve never been into it and do remember making it when I worked briefly in catering and it was a very long winded affair from memory!
Choclette
You are amazing with your bargains Camilla, I don’t know how you do it. We tend to use miso instead of stock in our soup which always gives a good flavour.
Camilla
Thanks Choclette. I’ve never had miso and wouldn’t even know where to look for it in the supermarket?

I find those Kallo stock cubes tremendously helpful – love the mushroom one. This is a super 3-ingredient, easy peasy soup for these cooler shorter days. At least they are still sunny for now!
Camilla
Yes it’s definitely starting to be soup weather and the Kallo cubes are great:-)
Paul Wilson
Looks warm and tasty.
Camilla
It really was Paul and I was not expecting to like this but hubby knew best:-)
