Today I’m sharing my daughter’s Cheat’s Iced Salted Caramel Mocha!
I don’t know how my daughter developed a taste for coffee but it started with her wanting it added to chocolate ganache when we were baking a few years ago.
More recently, after a few supermarket purchases of chilled coffee drinks and a trip to Starbucks in the summer where she had a Caramel Macchiato, the floodgates were well and truly opened.
I soon realised this was not a sustainable situation and suggested that she make her own chilled coffees at home as it would be far cheaper.
Children usually nag for sweets whilst shopping but my 12 year old was now nagging for chilled coffees, how times have changed!
So using what she can find in my kitchen, I have watched many guises of chilled coffee drinks being made after school.
I’ve been very impressed with her results, so much so that I had to share her Cheats Iced Salted Caramel Mocha.
My daughter doesn’t use any ice but if you wanted to add some on a hot day then you could but we find it chilled enough with the ice cream and chilled milk.
I have to say that I’m not a coffee drinker but having sampled so many of my daughter’s chilled coffee drinks, I think I have been converted; well at least to the chilled versions!
This one is not overly sweet so if you like a more sickly sweet drink then just add a squeeze of caramel sauce to the coffee before you dilute it with hot water, I enjoy it just the way it was!
Are you addicted to chilled coffee? Let me know what your favourite flavour combinations are!

I love love love salted caramel I can’t wait to try this recipe out. How long have you been making these for?
Camilla
My daughter has been making them in different forms for about 2 months since a visit in the summer to Starbucks:-)
Munchies and Munchkins
I don’t like coffee although I adore the smell and I wish I liked it. This looks incredible. I think I’d give this a whirl just for the salted caramel taste. Well done to your daughter. Thanks for including my hot choc. X
Camilla
I’m the same with coffee but seem to be being won over by these chilled creamy drinks:)
ceri
Wow, I didn’t get a taste for coffee until my twenties (not surprisingly the same time I started working in an office), its quite the addictive drink! This is a great idea to make a decadent drink more economically, though one definitely reserved for a treat! Yum!
Camilla
Yes Ceri, not all her chilled coffee drinks have ice cream in them and she never usually puts cream on her after school ones unless we happen to have some in the fridge which isn’t very often:-)
Helen @ Fuss Free Flavours
That is a cross between coffee and pudding, so so indulgent, I think I need one right now!
Camilla
You’re right, go on treat yourself:-)
Chris @thinlyspread
I’m drooling far more than is seemly!
Camilla
Passes a tissue:-)
Choclette
I’m not a coffee drinker either, but I think I could be seriously tempted by this. I’m a sucker for pretty much anything salted caramel.
Camilla
LOL Choclette, every time I’ve bought my daughter one of these fancy coffees I’ve had a little taste so I have developed a liking for these sweeter chilled versions:-)
Helen @ family-friends-food.com
That looks brilliant! I’m not such a fan of coffee but I could be persuaded by the salted caramel and whipped cream 🙂
Camilla
Thanks Helen, think of it in a similar way to coffee cake or chocolates and not a cup of coffee:-)
Emma
Mmmm I love the look of the caramel dripping down the side of the glass. Delicious! I’m not a huge fan of coffee but can be persuaded when it’s combined with something nice and sweet! This would be perfect for my other half though. He is obsessed and often buys those chilled coffee drinks from the supermarkets which you mention. Perhaps I’ll treat him to one of these at the weekend!
Camilla
Thanks Emma, it’s funny how many people don’t like coffee, including me but this is a game changer:-) I’m sure your hubby would love this and you might even get to like it too:-)
Janice
Well done to your daughter, it looks amazing.
Camilla
Janice, it’s my daughter’s recipe but I made it this morning while she was at school but I’m sure she could do this just as well:-)

A coffee and caramel lover’s dream without any faff – great idea.
Camilla
Thanks Heather:-)
