Banana & Chocolate Quesadilla

Banana & Chocolate Quesadilla, Nutella, chocolate spread, snack, dessert, breakfast, pudding, treat, kids, vegetarian, easy, quickI hadn’t intended to do any recipe posts until the New Year but like all things in life when you aren’t looking you always find! So yesterday I was making savoury Quesadilla for everyone except my daughter who just wanted a sandwich. Feeling like she’d maybe missed out she suggested having a Nutella Quesadilla and then I said it would go really well with banana and so the two of us concocted this awesome delicious dish which could be equally good as a snack, dessert or even a breakfast treat. We shared the Banana & Chocolate Quesadilla which was just right and a ball of vanilla ice cream would have been splendid with it too. But if you have a large appetite then you might not want to share and I wouldn’t blame you!

After the success of my Banana S’mores post which my daughter insisted on eating at every given opportunity I just know this is going to be her new favourite sweet treat! As this Banana & Chocolate Quesadilla is so quick and easy to make it really is a win/win dish and reminds me of delicious crepes I’ve eaten out! But don’t take my word for it – you just have to try them for yourself!

Quick, easy and totally delicious you'll want to make this Banana & Chocolate Quesadilla again and again as it's sure to be a big hit!
Author:
Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: Mexican
Serves: 1-2
Ingredients
  • 1 Tortilla wrap (I used seeded)
  • Nutella or chocolate spread (for spreading)
  • 1 Banana, sliced
  • Rapeseed oil (for brushing)
Instructions
  1. Lay the tortilla wrap on a board and spread a thick layer of Nutella/chocolate spread over half of it (leaving the other half bare).
  2. Lay the banana slices on top of the Nutella side to fully cover.
  3. Fold the bare side over the filled side and brush top with oil, then flip over carefully and brush other side with oil.
  4. Pre-heat a frying pan (medium heat) and then cook the Quesadilla for a minute or so on each side until golden brown. (When flipping it’s easier to flip from the curved side across the fold).
  5. Cut the Quesadilla into 4 wedges and serve on its own or with ice cream.
  6. Serves 1 – 2 depending on how hungry you are!

As this dish used up some tortilla wraps that had been in my freezer for an age and a ripe banana I am entering it into No Waste Food Challenge run by Elizabeth’s Kitchen Diary and also Credit Crunch Munch which I run with Helen at Fuss Free Flavours.

Oh this sounds delicious! How can you go wrong with that combo? I also like to make flourless pancakes like this occasionally. Just eggs and banana blended together and fried in a little oil. Nutella tastes lovely with it too! xxx @JuJu_Carbo

    1. Camilla

The flourless banana pancakes sound like a fab idea:-)

  16. alison p

This looks yummy. I wonder if you could use that condensed milk toffee stuff and banana and make it banoffee!

    1. Camilla

I think Dulce de Leche or whatever it’s called is probably best eaten cold like in a banoffee pie but I could be wrong!

  17. Ursula Hunt

    1. Camilla

I was sure we hadn’t invented them but I’d never seen a sweet Tortilla LOL so didn’t Googgle to spoil the illusion:-)

  24. Carole Cambridge

Bananas and chocolate (my two favourite things!). I’d better make it today though, because the diet starts tomorrow!

    1. Camilla

      Ooh hurry:-)

  25. William Gould

Hmmm – Not sure about this one – not a big Nutella fan – might still give it a go though!

    1. Camilla

      Can be chocolate spread too:-)

  26. Maya Russell

This is very child & mum friendly. Mmmmm!

    1. Camilla

Exactly who ate it here LOL:-)

  27. Kaci Soderstrom

Oh this sounds like a neat idea.. I’ve always put cheese and marmite in mine, but to put chocolate in it sounds amazing. I don’t like banana though, so I’d have to put something else in it!

    1. Camilla

Well someone else mentioned pear so that might be an idea?

  28. Paul Wilson

Great idea. I’d not really thought of sweet quesadillas before.

    1. Camilla

I’d never seen one either but from the comments I have lived a sheltered life in this regard LOL:-)

  29. kellie@foodtoglow

This is the kissing cousin of my pear and chocolate quesadilla post from a few months ago! You have very good taste :-). I wouldn’t share this though…

    1. Camilla

And there I was thinking I’d re-invented the wheel LOL:-) I’ll check those out as pear and chocolate are another fav of mine:-)

  30. Margot @ Coffee & Vanilla

Yum, I really do want this right now… It would be great snack for kids also for tomorrow 🙂

    Happy New Year!!

    1. Camilla

Thank you Margot – yes kids will especially love this dish:-) Happy New Year to you too!

  31. Elizabeth

Oooh you’re right I so do want this – but alas, on a diet! This would make me gain five pounds overnight, it would!! Looks lovely though and I do have all the ingredients in the house. I’m sure my kids would love it…!

    1. Camilla

I understand Elizabeth but hopefully you could enjoy it by proxy through your kids:-)
